We are thrilled with Hotazel – a Champion Macgyver son. Not only is his sire one of the most recognized Suri herdsires in the U.S., but his dam, Picabo, stands as one of Sierra Bonita's premier Suri dams. Hot is still producing outstanding Champions! 2018 -- Hot's latest son, Alpaca Road's Hot Wheels won Reserve Color Champion against some of the top Suri breeders in the nation. 2017 -- Hot's daughter, Alpaca Road's Switchback, has won 3 Color Champion banners and many more blues. 2 ...

We have been dreaming of a carbon copy of our favorite hersire -- Hotazel. Well, when Hotwheels was born we felt our dream was coming true.

When Hotwheels was shorn at two weeks old our shearer, Joel, said we had something special. Then when we had the herd evaluated Randy said he couldn't take his eyes off our boy. Wheels scored only 1 point less than his famous dad.

At 7 months old we took him to Buckeye to see if he was as amazing as we thought. When Wheels walked in the ring Judge Sharon Loner exclaimed "he's adorable". Once she got her hands on him she was duly impressed with his luster to the skin; consistent, dense, ropy locks; perfect proportions; true to type suri head; and his extreme confidence at only 7 months old. When she was done judging him she gave his beard a little tug and said she loved his beard.

At 10 months old he won his first Reserve Color Championship against really stiff competition. Jude Anderson was impressed with his substance of bone, high degree of luster and lock structure. Just to top it off his fiber is also very fine with a buttery soft handle.

Wheel's skin biopsy was analyzed in 2018 by Dr. Norm Evans. Dr. Evans stated: “Alpaca Road's Hotwheels" was biopsied as a 13 month old dark brown Suri male. He shows fiber clusters that are very uniform in size, shape and placement. His density is 55 follicles SQ MM of skin. He graded level 4 of 4 glands structure. This gland presence likely was passed from his sire and should be associated with lustrous fiber. Hotwheel's S/P ratio from 6 fiber clusters is 11.16 to 1 and 25 typical fiber clusters show an average S/P of 10.9 to 1.

Hotwheels continues to hold his own in the show ring against the large farms. At CABO, Wheels placed first and was given high praise by Amanda VandenBosch. She noted his density yet fineness of fiber coupled with his high degree of luster.

2022 update...Wheels took to his first breeding a champion. We asked him to cover Natt and Quinn and he was happy to do so. Can't wait till spring of 2023 to see the results.
